If you're one of those people who always protest 'oh! I'm no good at Art' but would secretly like to have a go, then this is the course for you! It is for absolute beginners and is designed to teach you the basics of drawing and to give you confidence by teaching you the skills you need. Please bring a 6B pencil, a putty rubber and a large piece of drawing paper to the first class. WARNING - this class is extremely popular and is strictly limited to 12 students. Three one-day workshops giving beginners guidance in basic figure drawing and observation skills whilst helping more experienced students to improve and develop. This course is for beginners and those with some experience that will cover four calligraphic lettering styles, design and layout, decoration, tools and techniques. Experiment with home-made and commercial stamping kits and add a pattern over a glazed background. Glazes can be used for colour washing, rag-rolling, combing, dragging, graining, etc on walls and furniture. We will also be stamping on fabric.

Learn how to use metallic powders, gold and silver leaf and gilt creams to produce a range of hand-made Christmas gifts (pots, candlesticks, picture frames, etc) and produce some hand-made, recycled (the famous tea-bag!) Christmas cards.

Small rollers can be used to produce some tricky paint effects such as marbling, mosaic, stripes, multi-shaded stencilling, etc. Spend a day finding out how rollers make it easy.

Techniques such as crackle glaze, crackle varnish, rubbing back with wax etc. Produce decorative effects which are mellow and pleasing. We shall be experimenting with a range of techniques which can be applied to walls and furniture.
