The appeal in last week's Cornish Times from the Looe team taking part in tomorrow's (Saturday) Dartmoor Jail Break, for the return of £48 in cash stolen from a fundraising raffle event in a local pub was read by the owners of Camping Caradon, Tim and Vanessa Turton.

They were touched by the team's dismay that someone could have stolen from the charity they are jailbreaking for, which is Cerebral Palsy, and have decided they want to help.

The couple have offered a disco and raffle night, at the campsite at Trelawne on Friday, May 12, with all profits for the team funds. Admission will be £2 and Hamblys Coaches (Pelynt) will be laying on free coaches on the night picking up from Looe and Polperro.

One of the team, Diane Parker, whose young son was recently diagnosed with cerebral palsy, has said how pleased they are with the Turton's kind offer. 'This has really cheered us up,' she said.

The team have so far raised £2,000 but are continuing with their appeal. While on the run they will be visiting holiday camps in Devon and Cornwall with official collecting tins for the charity.

The 17th annual Jailbreak gets under way tomorrow when over 200 prisoners are released by Richard Bath from Carlton TV. Escape plans are being kept well under wraps but informed sources say they are getting 'wackier' by the year.

Comedian Freddie Starr intends being locked in a cage in Torquay with the Hooper and Wollen Solicitors team, Honiton cub scouts are meeting up with Home Secretary Jack Straw to receive an official pardon, Kerrier Police are to visit most Premier Football Clubs and have an England football signed by the team, Reuters are visiting every Monopoly Board site in London, the Farthing family are escaping by stagecoach and then being locked in a cage with live pumas, and the prison officers themselves are to hide out, on Dartmoor, of course.
