Callington cup
run ends
THE year ten rugby team from Callington community college have been finally knocked out of the county cup at the quarter final stage, losing to Richard Lander school from Truro.
Callington made an excellent start and led the game for much of the first half, but the Truro side hit back and were a try ahead half way through the second half.
Despite a good effort from the college, the Lander defence held out, with Callington going down 17-24.
United service
for advent
CHURCHES together in Callington will be holding a joint advent service this Sunday (December 2).
All are welcome to come to this service, which will be held at the Catholic Church, Lower Coronation Terrace, starting at 3pm.
Kneehigh visit
in December
KNEEHIGH Theatre will pay a visit to Callington community school next Thursday (December 6) with their new production of 'Fish Boy.'
The play tells the story of a boy who 'yearns for the depths of the ocean.'
The evening begins at 7 30pm, with advanced bookings available at the college in person, or on (01579) 383292.
Tickets cost £5 for adults and £2.50 for children.
Busy time
for musicians
MUSICIANS from Callington community college have changed the venue of their performances, with concerts beginning to stray outside the college's campus.
After performances at this year's Royal Cornwall show and Honey Fair, the concert windband played in St Dominic church to raise funds for the church itself and the college's music support group.
The college musicians will have a busy few weeks ahead of them; practising and appearing in the annual lunchtime concerts in St Mary's church, Callington with performers from the town's primary school.
Woodland
wonders
CALLINGTON library is holding a Woodland Wonders afternoon, with the Cornwall Wildlife trust, this Saturday (December 1).
The afternoon, which runs from 2-4pm, is for children and families and includes story telling, poetry and artwork from environmental teacher Nikki Chambers.
Entrance is £1 per child.
