Band at the Show
THE Callington Community College Wind Band played at The Royal Cornwall Showthis year.
They performed on the Friday on the southern bandstand and received particular praise from the band of the Scots Guard who were impressed with the quality of the college musicians. Such was their admiration that the wind band has been invited up to London to spend a day with their musicians, not only seeing the daily life of the guards but also taking part in masterclasses with their bandsmen and receiving advice from their Director of Music.
Head of Music, Peter Stedman, said: 'This was fantastic for the players. They were pleased with their own standard of playing, but to receive such praise from professional musicians was the icing on the cake. They are really excited about going up to London and they will certainly benefit tremendously from the experience.'
The college also had a stand at the show for the second year running which attracted a steady stream of visitors.
