Help needed
for the Beavers
THE First Callington Beavers are in need of an assistant from September 2001. Any possible assistant should have a sense of humour, commitment, lots of patience and endless energy and a few hours a week to help the youth of the town.
The assistant should like to go into uniform, although this is not essential, as long as you are committed and prepared to help every week.
Contact Lynne Davis on 01579 382669 for further information.

Family camp
SC2Y Adventurers struck it lucky again for their second family camp of the year with the sun blazing down at Woodlands near Dartmouth. 35 members of the Junior club and their families spent a hugely enjoyable if exhausting weekend trying out all the many and varied activities available at Woodlands. It was also an ideal opportunity to try out the new cooking equipment and tables gifted to the group by HM Prison Dartmoor and the new tents donated by Pirate Fm and the plates and cutlery bought with a generous donation from the Devon Vintage Car Club.
With all the generous help from our friends and supporters, the club has gone from strength to strength and in its first three months is at present full but if you feel you would like to join, we will be happy to add you to our waiting list. It is only a matter of time.
The club has been able to make the most of the sunny weather to indulge in many and varied outdoor activities which often include water and has a full programme of camping , canoeing and surfing for the moths ahead leading up to a summer camp at Tehidy. We hope to host a friendly five a side football tournament in the near future and local youth organisation will soon be receiving an invitation from us. Contact numbers 370709 and 370534.
Fete cancelled
The Albaston annual fete, postponed earlier because of the foot and mouth restrictions, has now been cancelled.
The organisers are disappointed that they can't hold it this year but there are still some local restrictions and many of the main attractions they had hoped to book are not available. The raffle, however, will still go ahead and tickets are being sold in the village.
