Birthday lunch
for Bunty
LAST week Callington Age Concern Luncheon Club members, guests and helpers enjoyed a special meal to celebrate the 90th birthday of Mrs Bunty Simpson.
Bunty was a founder member of the club and a regular cook for many years. Many people have benefitted from the food and company provided every Thursday at The Mustard Seed, Callington.
The turkey lunch, with all the trimmings was followed by blackcurrant cheesecake prepared by the present group of cooks. Lunch was followed by a toast to Bunty and the singing of Happy Birthday when everyone enjoyed a piece of birthday cake. Bunty was presented with a basket of flowers and a special balloon.
Earlier in the month a successful coffee morning was held and boosted the funds by £200. All the helpers were thanked, Gwen and Louise James in particular, who provided an excellent cake stall and all the people who donated prizes. Herbert Wadge's efforts with the plant stall were also appreciated.
After the coffee morning members had a soup and pasty lunch which they enjoyed, with pasties provided by Ginsters.
The club are now looking forward to outings in June and September which will be partially financed by the coffee morning proceeds.
