Exciting new club

A FORMER Callington Scout leader has asked us to point out that she has resigned from the group, and not retired as we said last week. 'I'm not that old, honestly', says Diane Willsteed.

Diane is, in fact, going on to start an exciting new sports and outdoor adventure club for 8 to 14 year-olds, along with ex cub leader Trevor Norish.

The club is to be called SC2Y - The Adventurers and is being run under the auspices of Cornwall Youth Service and in collaboration with Stoke Climsland Sports Club.

There are a few vacancies and if anyone would like details they can call Diane on 01579 370709.

Celtic

Connections

THE first Callington Guild meeting of the New Year took place at Callington Methodist Church, Haye Road.

The speaker was Mr Gwn Williams who spoke on Celtic Connections. Mr Barry Higgins was in the chair and Miss Rena Wooldridge played for the hymns.

Mrs M Wilkins and Mrs V Pearce served tea and biscuits at the end of the meeting. Next week the speaker will be Mr Wesley Wilton.

Two site meetings

CARADON councillors are to hold a site meeting in Callington on January 15 to discuss an outline plan, by Peter Coombe, to build a hotel on land at Southern Road.

The meeting will be held at 11am, while another site meeting, at Tredhek Gardens, Delaware Road, Gunnislake will take place at 1.30pm on the same day.

This is to debate the Caradon council plan to change the use of an existing bungalow and extensions to industrial use.
