Bingo tomorrow
at Primary School
CALLINGTON Primary School is holding a family bingo evening on Saturday, November 25.
The event, to raise money for school funds, begins at 6pm in the school hall, with eyes down at 6.30pm.
There will be refreshments and a raffle.
On Friday December 8 the school has organised a Christmas Craft Fayre, with all kinds of crafts and good quality second hand toys.
The event is also a table top sale and there are a few tables left to hire. Santa Claus will be there and there are refreshments.
The event begins at 2.30pm and is also in the school hall.

The work
of NCH
CALLINGTON Guild meeting was held at the Methodist Church on Monday evening.
Members were given an insight into the work of NCH by Mrs S Tredinnick. Barry Higgins was in the chair and Rev Anne Curnow played for the hymns.
Tea and biscuits were served by Miss L James and Mrs M Wilkins. The speaker next week will be Rev Dr Stephen Dawes.
Trip to Truro
CALLINGTON Local History Group took a coach trip to Truro on Saturday November 18.
Sheila Lightbody organised the visit and Chrissie Le Marchant went in her role as Blue Badge Guide to provide snippets of information about places en route.
The day was successful despite the bad weather at the start.
Appealing for a
new councillor
CALLINGTON Town Council are appealing for potential councillors to come foward as no-one, as yet, has applied for an election or seems interested in being co-opted after the resignation of Michael Jacob in September.
Town Clerk, Michael Williams, explained: 'It is our legal obligation to elect a new councillor as quickly as possible.' The situation will also be outlined in next month's local news-sheet, Callington News, which will be distributed around the area by December 8.
Anyone considering applying for the position should contact the Town Clerk, Michael Williams, at the Town Hall before noon, on December 22 for interviews to commence in early New Year.
Remembrance Service
The Remembrance Sunday Service in Callington took place in the afternoon of the 12 November beginning with the laying of wreaths at the War Memorial. Led by the Royal British Legion, wreaths were laid by representatives of the Town Council, The Royal Observer Corp Association, The Royal Order of Buffaloes, The Scouts, The Guides and Brownies, The Fire Brigade, St. John‚s Ambulance, Devon and Cornwall Police, Callington W. I., Kelly Bray W. I., Callington Brotherhood and Sisterhood, Celliwic Evergreens, The Rotary Club, The Lions International Club, Callington Young Farmers, The Primary School, The Community College, The Drama and Arts Society, Prim-Raf, The Old Cornwall Society, the History Group, the Cricket Club, the Social Club, Good Companions, Civil Service Retirement Fellowship, Callington Town Football Club, the Bowling Club, Callington Activity Group, Callington Rugby Club, Callington & District Twinning Association, The Phoenix Short Mat Bowling Club and the Tea Dance Club.
All Saints party
at St Mary's
ST MARY'S Church, Callington was the venue for an All Saints party. The event began with over 40 children enjoying a variety of games.
The winners were Jessica March, Jenny Julian, Bianca Brandon, Richard Dean, Chris Gawman, Sophie Berryman, Beth Julian, Morwenna Boyne, Teifi Yasy, Tom Warner, Adam Emmerson, Becky, Daniel, Katie Gliddon, Chloe Binding, Shelbie Wadge, Toby Beresford-Power, Emma Jiajka and Jack Binding. The children sang 'Who built the Ark' and 'If I were a butterfly'.
The Church Youth leader, Paul Julian, briefly explained that a TV show like Buffy the vampire slayer and Halloween events can lead to witchcraft and evil, so St Mary's has a party to celebrate the Saints who are heroes of the Christian church.
Eight-year-old Beth Julian sang the the song 'Superhuman', by MIC, a South African Christian pop group
On Thursday at the church, Barry Burrows, Joanna Henshaw, Sophie McNally, Jean Walmsley and Katie Williams were confirmed by Bishop Roy, the Bishop of St Germans.
During his sermon, Bishop Roy spoke of All Saint's Day and said that today Saints were ordinary people working to do their best for God. After the service a faith supper was held in the Town Hall where Bishop Roy cut a celebration cake, made and decorated by Pam Dolley.
On the Sundayat the Family Service, a full church celebrated the baptisms of Kimberly Victoria Barriball and Oban Jacob Jones.
