A disco for the Ducklings
A valentine event, in aid of Ducklings, Venterdon Pre-school, and the Old School community project, is to be held on February 12.
The hot buffet and disco is to be held at the Old School community resource centre, Stoke Climsland at 7.45pm. Proceeds will go towards increased staffing and equipment at Ducklings, to help keep pace with the growing pre-school which serves Stoke Climsland and the surrounding area.
The Old School, as a charity, aims to provide an on-going programme of educational and social activities for the local community, and beyond.
Methodist Guild
A recent Guild meeting was held at Callington Methodist Church, The speaker was Mr M Horrell who spoke on modern technology in farming.
Mr B Higgins was the chairman and Mrs E Trevorrow played for the hymns. Tea and biscuits were served at the end of the meeting by Mrs P Pengelly and Mrs C Duance. The next meeting has the Quethiock Handbell Ringers present.
Sisterhood
The Callington United Sisterhood meeting was chaired by Mrs Audrey Horsham. Happy thoughts were read by Mrs Elsie Hope of the Tate family, Mrs Elsie Trevorrow said a spring cleaning prayer and Mrs Audrey Horsham spoke of springtime.
The guest speaker was Mrs Winnie Sambels who spoke on the life of Daniel.
Pianist was Mrs Barrie Duance and tea was served by Mrs Edie Pridham and Mrs Jean Burnard.
