The latest vacancies will be displayed every Thursday on a notice board in the window of Calstock Development Trust at 6 Fore Street.

We hope that this service can also be offered to Gunnislake shortly, when a suitable venue has been found for the boards.'

Grant for
Stoke Climsland
STOKE Climsland Community Project has been awarded a grant of £1,280 by Shell Better Britain Campaign. The grant will go towards signage for the Stoke Climsland Community Resource Centre and the monthly farmers markets. The Community Centre hosts a farmers market on the first Saturday of every month, which provides an opportunity for local farmers to sell direct to the public. There is a range of stalls selling meat, vegetables, cheese, honey and crafts.
Shell Better Britain Campaign forms part of Shell UK's Community Investment Programme. The Campaign provides a package of information and grants designed to encourage more people to embrace the principals of sustainability as they carry out local activities to improve their environment.
Campaign director, Peter Woodward, said: 'We are now targeting our grants fund to support a wide variety of good ideas so that other local groups can share their experiences of building a better life through our information service. Stoke Climsland Community Project is exactly the kind of initiative we want to tell people about. We hope the lead taken by this group will be an inspiration to others.'
Any community group working to improve their local area can join the Campaign's Network which gives access to a wide range of information, advice and grant funds. Contact Shell Better Britain Campaign, King Edward House, 135a New Street, Birmingham, B2 4QJ.

Estuaries plan out
for public view
A PLAN to tackle litter in the Tamar estuaries, and improve access to the water for disabled people, is to go out to public consultation.
The Tamar Estuaries Management Plan, launched this week, is a revision of a plan first released in 1997 by the Tamar Estuaries Consultive Forum. Tackling marine litter and improving access to the water, esspecially for the less able, are two of the issues covered.
The plan which covers the estuaries of the Tamar, Lynher and Tavy rivers, is now to go out for a series of public consultation exhibitions that will run in the area until November.
As a result of the 1997 plan more than £1 million was secured and spent in the local economy, creating jobs and projects such as the upper Tamar passenger ferry, the new landing stage at Calstock and the Waterfront Walkway through Plymouth.
The plan also looks at seeking further opportunities to regenerate and enhance waterside areas, encouraging a diverse marine related industrial base around the estuary and promoting the conservation and understanding of nationally important habitats such as saltmarsh, reefs and mudflats - and rare species of otter, little egret and avocets.
The exhibition featuring the plan will be at Torpoint library from September 18 to 25, Saltash library from September 25 to October 2 and Callington library from October 2 to 9. Comments should be sent to Coast Officer, c/o Planning Services, Department for Regeneration, Plymouth City Centre, Civic Centre, Plymouth, PL1 2EW.
Cats Protection
Week 2000 sale
THE Callington and District Branch of the Cats Protection League is run purely by volunteers and the amount of cats that receive their help depends entirely on the funds raised and the donations from members of the public.
Most of the funds are raised from sales which rely on donated items of bric-a-brac. This includes items such as jewellery, books, jigsaws, cutlery, china, glass ware and unwanted gifts.
For Cats Protection Week 2000 a sale has been organised at Stuart House, Liskeard on Saturday September 16 and unwanted items are urgently needed for this to go ahead and raise money for the cats in care.
To donate items for the sale or to offer to help contact Val on 01579 363192, Jackie on 01579 384338 or Linda on 01579 350494.
