Callington Rugby Club Presentation Night
Callington Rugby Club completed their third successful season last Saturday with an entertaining evening held at the Riverside in Calstock marking their annual Presentation Night.
Many awards were presented to those people who have made a special effort throughout the season in upholding the status and reputation of the Club. The following awards were deservedly attained as follows:
Most promising newcomer - Paul Cioffi; Most improved player - Steve Gold; Best forward - Nick Woodley; Best back - Ali Skews; Highest points scorer (90 pts) - Paul Cioffi; Highest try scorer (18 tries) - Paul Cioffi; Club man of the year- Kim Campbell; Player of the year- Paul Cioffi.
Awards of an entertaining nature were won by: Tour jester- Malcolm Eaton; Worst time keeper - John Pritchard; Most unlucky player- Melvin Smith. For the third year running, the Dirty Kit award went to Alan Jasper.
A special mention was given to those who, without their time and effort, the club would not have been able to run. To Scott Saunders for supporting the club and looking after the accounts, to Michelle Campbell who helped with the behind the scenes running of the club, to Dave Welsh who endeavoured all weathers to film and take photos at his own cost, and to Ruth Woodley for laying on the first class food after every home match at The Olde Clink.
Callington will be looking forward to next season and will be starting training early to increase their chances of promotion to Cornwall 1. Training commences with light fitness in the first week of June, and any new players would be more than welcome to come along and join in if you feel like it.
