CHILDREN from Callington, Liskeard, Torpoint, Saltash and Bodmin took part in the Caradon Road Safety Quiz final at Saltash Guildhall on Friday evening. The question-master was Paul Roper, from Torpoint, who welcomed the deputy mayor of Saltash, David Carter, along with Juliette Brereton whose parents (the Late Sir Douglas Marshall MP and Lady Marshall) started the competition many years ago. The teams answered 40 questions in four rounds on road safety, with pupils from Callington Primary School emerging victorious. Presented Team members Fiona Edwards, Rachel Collard, Jessica Rowe, and Roxanne Boublin were presented with the cup by Juliette Brereton. Runners-up were Carbeile Junior School, Torpoint. Team members Jade Madge, Natalie Dunwell, Grace Courts and Rebecca Waters received a certificate. Natalie Dunwell received a cup presented by Saltash deputy mayor, David Carter, for being the overall winner. Team members and supporters enjoyed a pasty supper and Marjorie Schikowsky, secretary of the Road Safety Committee, thanked all those who had helped and organised the event.
