A Liskeard father and son have collected hundreds of plastic bottles and tin cans that were littering the town as part of a call to action on recycling.

It took Rob Arnold and his son Ben just three hours to pick up 750 bottles and cans from streets and verges.

Rob wants to see a deposit return system on drinks bottles and cans introduced in the UK.

Surfers agains Sewage, whose ‘Message in a Bottle’ campaign is lobbying for such a system, says that this type of litter has been reduced by up to 90 per cent in the countries that already operate it.
