RESIDENTS in Forder, Saltash, have designed and published their own calender in a bid to generate funds for a new village hut. The calendar features 12 images of the Forder valley taken in October this year with profits from each calender going back into the community. Local resident Nigel Crabb was responsible for designing the calender and taking the photographs, and is pleased with the finished result, as high demand has seen around 70 calenders bought or ordered so far. 'The photographs were only taken this month, but already the calender has really taken off,' said Mr Crabb. 'The calender is popular with many of the residents in the area because it is locally produced and the images are personal to them. People are also sending copies to their friends and relatives who live outside of the area. We already know of people who have sent the Forder calendar to New Zealand, Singapore and Hong Kong!' The current village hall can only hold around 20 people, so money raised from the sale of the calender will go directly into the building fund. The hall is currently used for exhibitions, carol services and meetings, however, the 30 year-old building is out-dated by the need for greater facilities, more room and insulation. Joe Hall, chairman of the Forder Community and Conservation Association, said that the calender would provide much-needed funds for the construction, and was grateful to all involved in it's production and purchase. Nigel and Barry Biggins, who are printing the calenders, are already thinking about next year's design: 'There are numerous possibilities, we could have residents choose their favourite shots of Forder, or even have 'Childhood in Forder'. We are also planning to have some aerial view shots taken,' said Mr Crabb.
