Organisers reckon cakes worthy of the Great British Bake-Off were on sale at HMS Raleigh as the base joined the World’s Biggest Coffee Morning.
Staff and trainees dug deep into their pockets to buy the cakes cooked by trainee Royal Navy chefs and members of the PT department. In total the event raised £167.80 for Macmillan Cancer Support.
Leading Physical Trainer Natalie Berry, the event organiser – no relation - said: ’We were really grateful for the generous donations and a great turn-out of people from within Raleigh.’
A second coffee morning, organised by ESS, the contractor that provides catering services at the base, raised £117.48.
