A new project on the Rame Peninsula is turning surplus food into meals.
Cafe Abundance is the Torpoint and district hub of the Real Junk Food Project (RJFP).
The national initiative uses unwanted produce from supermarkets, traders and food outlets to address need in local communities.
Carrot and orange soup, jacket potatoes, poached pears and home-made cakes were on the menu during the first Cafe Abundance lunch at St James Church, Torpoint.
The Torpoint and Rame project has been founded by Jemma Morgan, who feels passionately that the amount of food wasted each day because it is rejected by shops is a scandal.
Around 30 people attended the first ‘pay as you feel’ lunch at St James Church, which Jemma hopes will now be a regular event.
The next pop-up lunch will be held at St James Church on October 13 from noon.
