Saltash Youth Council has elected to give the town’s Fire Brigade Cadets funds towards their forthcoming visit to Belgium to attend services of remembrance.

The meeting was held at The Core Youth Club and it was agreed that £250 should be given to the cadets for their visit in November.

Firefighter Mike Parker said the visit would be an educational one: as well as attending parades and services, the cadets would be visiting museums and war graves.

Also at the meeting, presided over by Mrs Jenny Lightly, The Core’s Charlotte Carpenter said its cafe was going well but that more volunteers were needed to staff it.
