Constable Alford gave Torpoint town councillors details about crime in the town over the past month. There were 28 reported crimes including ten cases of criminal damage, six assaults, three incidents of damage to motor vehicles, one case of drink/ driving, one possession of drugs and three cases of drunk and disorderly, he said. He also told the council that a local businessman – who has an extensive CCTV security system – is willing to link any council cameras into his system for monitoring. This would be much cheaper than the council running its own system. Councillors agreed to look into the feasibility and costs of this.
