South East Cornwall’s independent traders and venues have got the thumbs-up in an online award based on public votes.

Sterts Theatre and Arts Centre beat the Minack Theatre to win the best theatre category in the Muddy Stilettos Awards.

Liskeard’s Bitter Sweet was named best women’s boutique, and two Fowey businesses won accolades: the Galley at Gallants Sailing Club (best casual dining) and the Clementine (best gift shop).

The Duchy Box Company, based in St Cleer, won best local producer (creative).

Best restaurant in the county, according to the online voters, was Squid Ink in Looe.

Affina Beauty Salon and Olive Cafe in Liskeard also featured in the awards shortlist.
