A business based in Callington which operates 63 Spar stores in the South West is to be taken over by a local distribution company.

Appleby Westward has announced that it has reached an agreement with Gilletts Callington Limited to acquire the business, and hopes to seal the deal by next month.

Gilletts is one of the largest independent retailers in the UK and employs 950 people, while Saltash-based Appleby Westward currently services the convenience stores across the region.
