Colourful knitted creations are popping up all over Liskeard as part of the town’s annual 3 Bags Full wool festival.

Members of the committee and volunteers have been busy making small toys known as ‘Rainbow Babies’, destined to be given to refugee children through the charity, Nurture Project International.

Each of the woollen toys is unique, and before they are posted away, they are joining other knitted items in a shop window trail in the town centre, as Rachel Brooks explains: ‘This week, local children can win a prize by spotting all sorts of knitted objects in 18 shop windows in Liskeard.

‘Trail leaflets are available from participating businesses and should be handed in at The Natural Way.’

Children taking part in the challenge should look out for crocheted whisks and spoons, woolly fruit and veg, lobsters and prawns and even a brace of pheasants on the trail – all knitted by volunteers.

On Friday, September 30, 3 Bags Full’s Wool Market is set to take place in the Public Hall.

The market will include live music, children’s craft and demonstrations of various techniques such as jumbo crochet, making woolly holly for Christmas and braiding.

A programme of workshops covering a range of crafts will run on October 3-11 in Liskeard.
