A South West firm of solicitors has opened a new office in Looe providing a range of legal services to people in the area.

Furse Sanders Ltd, which currently has seven offices spread across Cornwall and Devon and one in London, now has a presence in Looe.

The firm offers legal advice and expertise on a number of matters, including property (both residential and commercial), wills, probate, powers of attorney, and matrimonial.

Michael Macartney, Head of Property at Furse Sanders, said: ‘We are delighted to have opened an office in Looe, and to be able to offer our services to people in South East Cornwall. It is an exciting time for us.

‘The firm prides itself on its relaxed but professional approach which is intended to put clients at their ease whilst at the same time providing the highest level of service.’

Michael is a solicitor with nearly 35 years’ experience, mainly in the South West and particularly in Cornwall.

For the past 20 years he has specialised in all types of property work and, more recently, spent eight years in Oxfordshire dealing with high-value residential properties across the South East, including London.

Others who can provide legal advice in the Looe office are the principal of the firm Maxine Barnes (probate and trusts), Katy Taylor (wills, probate, and powers of attorney), and Lindsey Jackson and John McLachlan (matrimonial and landlord and tenant).

‘The first point of contact for anyone coming into our office is our friendly receptionist Stacey Piggott, who will be able to put clients in touch with the relevant lawyer,’ says Michael.

‘Our firm uses modern computerised systems, and we are happy to communicate with clients and professionals by email where appropriate in order to speed up the legal process.’

Getting around Looe and in and out of shops and offices can be difficult for disabled people, but the Looe office of Furse Sanders and all the meeting rooms are fully accessible.

Property expert Michael has either lived in Looe or had connections with the town for the last 20 years.

He returned to the law after a break spent helping set up and run a new shop in Looe with his wife Ann and daughter Bryony.

Michael is keen to use his extensive knowledge of property matters to benefit people in Cornwall and Devon.

Outside work, Michael is an enthusiastic supporter of new initiatives in Looe designed to bring additional business and visitors to the town and provide extra facilities for local people.

Among other things he is one of the trustees of the Looe Development Trust.
