FREE car parking for an hour has been introduced in Callington in a bid to boost town centre trade.

The move comes as Cornwall Council reports more than 4,000 responses to their survey into parking in other town centres across the county – evidence, said the council, of widespread interest in and concern about the issue.

The council has agreed the Callington scheme with the town council and the local Co-op store, which borders the New Road car park where the free parking will be available for a trial period.

Now, said Callington’s Portreeve Councillor Andrew Long, it’s up to residents to support the free parking.
