A fish and chip shop in the centre of Liskeard has closed.

In a statement posted on the door of Royal Cafes on The Parade, proprietors Chris and Kate Mitchell said: ‘With all the speculation and rumours over the last few months, this weekend (May 6 to 7) will be our last weekend and the shop will be closing.’

The Cornish Times reported last year that the shop was due to become an outlet for the Domino’s pizza chain.

The Mitchells said: ‘Chris, Kate and family would like to thank all customers past and present for your custom and loyal support over the last 40 years.’
