A CALL has gone out to any employer wishing to furlough staff for the first time as the deadline for registration approaches.

Employers who intend to furlough an employee for the first time must have done so by this coming Wednesday (June 10).

The Coronavirus Job Retention Scheme (CJRS) will be closed to new entrants from the end of this month. The final date by which an employer can furlough an employee for the first time has been set as June 10,  in order for the minimum three-week furlough period to be completed by June 30. Employers will then have until July 31 to make any claims in respect of the period up to 30 June.
