CORNWALL Council is offering new apprentice posts this year.

The council has more than 15 apprenticeship opportunities for all ages in a variety of roles including business administration, procurement, finance, health and social care.

Those interested can go to a special apprenticeship open event on Thursday, March 8 at County Hall, Truro from 2.30pm to 6.30pm.

The council’s chief executive Kate Kennally will be speaking at 4pm, and the National Careers Service will be on hand to help with registration and applications.

Liskeard Councillor Sally Hawken, the cabinet member for children and well-being, said: ‘We want to provide opportunities for people from all walks of life and develop our own workforce for the future, so are looking for skilled and talented people to join us as apprentices.

‘Our apprenticeships and routes into apprenticeships are also an important part of our plan to improve Cornwall’s economy by investing in skills and helping to raise aspirations.’

Truro and Penwith College and Cornwall College will be at the event, as will CORMAC, Cornwall Housing and the Royal Cornwall Hospitals Trust, offering their apprenticeship opportunities.
