Businesses in Looe are being urged to make their voices heard as part of the town's involvement in the Market and Coastal Towns Initiative by returning completed survey forms sent to them recently. The survey follows a successful public consultation exercise during which local residents were asked for their views on subjects such as the future of Looe. It is the first of three surveys being carried out as part of the MCTi, with community and youth questionnaires due to follow in the near future. Edwina Arkell, vice chairman of the Town Forum and chairman of the town council's tourism panel, said the current survey recognises the importance of the business community in providing employment as well as goods and services to both visitors and locals. Responses to the survey questions will help promote vitality and viability and the data collected will also help the council's tourism panel to promote the town as a year-round tourist destination, she said. The questionnaire provides an opportunity for businesses to identify themselves with their responses although they can remain anonymous should they so wish.
