THE Liskeard and Looe Foodbank has reported a bumper harvest this year – with close to two tonnes of food streaming in thanks to donations from local people.

'Our grateful thanks go out to all the people who have donated food through their local collection points, particularly to the many primary schools, churches and chapels at this harvest-time. Thanks go too to our local shops and banks that collect for us,' said a spokesperson.

The foodbank distributes emergency food parcels to people in crisis. While more than 1,000 people were helped in 2012, the branch has reported a 30 per cent increase in referrals so far this year.
