BRUNEL is once again firm on his feet after vandals in Saltash knocked his statue over.

Mayor Jean Dent and her husband Bill visited the town’s Waterside to view the restoration carried out by warden Jason Ward.

The statue of I K Brunel had been vandalised in September and knocked to the ground. This followed an earlier incident of vandalism, after which the statue was moved from its original location in Fore Street.

Waterside warden Jason Ward restored the statue at the cost of £200, and firmly cemented it to the ground.

It is hoped people will keep an eye on it and report anyone causing damage in the future.
