SHOPS and cafes in Liskeard are sporting rainbow bunting and woollen wonders of all kinds in the run-up to a popular annual market.

This year’s 3 Bags Full market will still take place, but for safety reasons, it’ll all be online between October 17-19 – and Liskeard’s yarnbombers have taken to the town with extra creativity to promote the event and the workshops that accompany it.

Local knitters and crocheters spent part of lockdown making the bunting and now the largest ever set of businesses are taking part in the display.

Many of this year’s virtual stallholders are offering special discounts, and there are also three online workshops, on Fair Isle knitting, steeking (the technique of cutting your knitting) and natural dyeing. These take place between October 16 - 20: to find out all the details go to the website, www.3bagsfull.org.

Rachel Brooks, one of the organising group, said: “We always enjoy brightening up the town and this year that felt particularly important. We really appreciate all our independent shops and cafés, many of which stayed open through lockdown and where we can now shop safely. We hope people will come into town to see the yarnbombing and support local businesses.”
