A successful Bridge afternoon was held in the Public Hall, Liskeard. Saturday February 12, when there were 11 tables in all, with players from the Liskeard Club joined by friends from Looe.

The event was in aids of the local branch of Save the Children.

There was a welcome break when members of the Save the Children Fund Committee, with their Chairman Mrs Jane Wood, served the afternoon tea. that they had prepared earlier and which was thoroughly enjoyed.

The top scoring winners of the bridge were Gela Inman and Joan Langley with the runners up being Anneke Brace and Sid Groom, followed by Queenie Willcocks and Gillian Richardson. A grand slam prize went to Joan Thomas and John Brace.

The prizes were donated by Beryl Hunter, Joyce Petty, Janet Putnam, Gillian Richardson and Sylvia Smith.

There was also a raffle with first prizes going to Greta Pittaway and Audrey Yarwood. Prizes for the raffle were provided by the Save the Children Fund Committee.

The total raised was £233 which will be forwarded to help towards the national target of £30,000. There was unanimous agreement with the club chairman, Malcolm Thomas, that another event would be welcomed.

In addition, the Save the Children Fund Committee had a stall with their own goods and it was supported enthusiastically.
