In the end, the long winning run of Callington second team had to come to an end but they went so close to extending their unbeaten run to 15 games at Launceston College on Saturday against arch rivals Southgate United.
Callington were without key players missing, due to suspensions and work commitments, but started the game in great fashion and for the first 30 minutes were the only team looking likely to score.
After 25 minutes, following a corner from Griffiths, up popped Hunt to score with ease from eight yards. 10 minutes later Southgate equalised in bizarre fashion following a long throw-in towards the front post which eluded everyone and somehow ended up in the back of the net. Southgate gained the upper hand for the remaining minutes of the half.
The second period started the same as the first with Callington in control and it wasn't long before they regained the lead. Taylor chased down the last defender, won the ball, and let fly with a thunderous right footed shot which sailed Town, but they still looked in control of the game until 10 minutes to go, when again two vital mistakes by the town 'keeper allowed Southgate to take all three points.
