Dobwalls travelled to Launceston to play a Premier League match after a morning of torrential rain and found the playing surface waterlogged in places. The visitors started well with Chris Young making an impact. after five minutes of his first start he drilled a ball across the box for Steve Green to tap home.
The lead proved shortlived as three minutes later a ball over the top was tapped past the advancing keeper at the second attempt despite a valiant effort by Paul Gerry to clear his lines.
Ten minutes before the break a corner from Young was met by Jeremy Rendle whose powerful header hit the target. Southgate drew level on the hour when a long range shot from wide rebounded off the upright to provide an easy tap in.
Two minutes later Simon Fisher gave Dobwalls the lead yet again with an unopposed header from a set piece that gave the keeper no chance.
With 10 minutes left Martin Polatch making a welcome return after along lay-off sealed the result with a well taken effort from an acute angle.
The game was a scrappy affair with neither side able to play any sustained flowing football. For Dobwalls the coveted man of the match award was not easy to pick as very few people shone on the day but it was given to skipper Mark Fielder who had a solid game at the back and he cleared a certain goal on the line near the end.
