After a day of torrential rain and gale force winds the game went ahead much to everyone's surprise. Saltash played down the slope with the gale at their backs in the first half and were two goals up after only 10 minutes with the visiting side in disarray trying to cope with the elements. They soon regrouped and made a number of half chances, Robin Cole reduce the deficit on the half hour firing home after a goalmouth scramble. Stewart Dunn levelled before the break with a fierce drive into the corner of the net.
The second half saw Dobwalls pressurise the home defence for long spells. In turn Saltash looked dangerous on the rare occasion that they broke away. Stewart Dunn gave Dobwalls the lead and the game should have been sealed, a number of chances went begging. With time running out a misunderstanding between the keeper and a defender saw the ball fall to an alert attacker whose mishit shot trickled over the line to level the scores.
Both sides deserve credit for attempting to play football in such appalling conditions. Stewart Dunn received the Man of the Match award for the effort put in over 90 minutes.
