The visitors travelled to the heart of the clay pit country deprived of both regular strikers at short notice. The re-arranged line-up got off to a dream start when a defender left a through ball which looked like going dead. Glen Toms never gave up and caught the ball just short of the dead ball line, his cross was only parried by the keeper and the rebound fell to Andros Andreas who tapped home.
The visitors were drawn into a scrappy encounter and despite creating a number of chances the score remained the same until a minute before the break when Toms was again the provider, his cross finding Matt Trevarthen who extended the lead. From the restart a speculative shot from thirty odd yards found Karl Roberts well off his line, his acrobatic save rebounded off the upright and he could only help the ball into the net with his second attempt.
The home side upped their game in the second half and caused the Dobwalls defence a number of problems for the first 20 minutes until two goals in as many minutes sealed the tie. The first was a well taken effort from Andreas whose delicate chip beat the advancing keeper. Matt Trevarthen finished the scoring with a strong effort and a fierce shot into the roof of the net.
The home side were now seriously deflated and should have lost by a greater margin if it were not for a number of fine saves by the home keeper.
Karl Roberts in the visitors goal deservedly received the man of the match award for a number of point blank saves in the first half to keep his side ahead.
Neil Foster came on as substitute for the Lantoom Park club making his debut after a three year absence and made an impact immediately causing the opposition problems with his skilful play despite the uneven surface.
