After last week's encounter with league leaders Biscovey, Lanreath knew they had to win to maintain the pressure as the points were shared in a dramatic 2-2 draw.

Playing away to Nanpean at the foot of the table should have produced an easier fixture but this was not entirely the case. A scrappy first half was goalless. Lanreath failed to produce enough scoring opportunities from their overwhelming possession. Perhaps the attitude of the Lanreath side was not positive enough as players became restless and impatient to develop their first goal.

The second half started with similar style until Danny Mason fired in the first goal which seemed to kick-start the team into life. His shot was struck well into the danger zone from a fairly acute angle and found its way into the far corner.

Soon after, Jim Moynan continued his scoring run by cutting through the defence and hammering in his shot to put the visitors two-up. From then on, the tempo was raised as both teams struck the woodwork in a short space of time and it wasn't long before Jonny Collins got onto the score sheet by netting two goals to put the points safe. Nanpean claimed a consolation goal before time with a low drive which beat the keeper to narrow the result to 4-1.

Not a convincing win but an important three points.
