On a difficult pitch and very windy conditions Callington found it hard to get the ball down and play football, and this seemed to give a weak Fowey side a little encouragement. But it was Callington who had all the chances in the first period, with Truscott and Gregory both going close, Griffiths also had a long range shot saved by the home 'keeper. But with Fowey defending in numbers Callington failed to break them down, and went in at the interval 0-0.

After the break and with strong words from manager Blatchford and the wind at their backs, Callington did settle and started passing the ball with ease at times. The first goal finally came, a fine run down the left from Shorton whose cross found the head of Gregory10 yards out to score.

Ten minutes later Callington sealed the match, following some good work from Taylor, Brooks and Fitze. Gregory 16 yards out turned his marker and rifled in a fierce low left footed shot into the bottom corner.

Callington had several more chances in the remaining 15 minutes and only some good defending and some excellent goalkeeping kept the score line at 2-0.

There were some good battling performances in the town side and one player stood out more than anyone else was new signing Simon Fitze whose tireless running duly won him the man of the match award.
