Both sides deserve congratulations for trying to play the passing game on a pitch that was almost waterlogged at the start and developed into a quagmire well before the end.

Dobwalls started the brighter and came close on several occasions. Goal machine Simon Fisher broke the deadlock with a well placed header to open the scoring. He made it two near the half time break to give his team a buffer.

With conditions deteriorating the players found it difficult to control the ball that was now like a bar of soap.

Robin Cole made it three and the home side now looked to have the game sewn up, but Godolphin pulled a goal back and had a good 15 minute spell where they could have scored further goals but were thwarted by Roberts who had an outstanding game in goal.

He was well supported by his defence who were in fine form, especially youngster Richard Hill who showed composure when in the line of fire and although having to play out of position he shone throughout. Both sides used their subs as the game wore on and manager John Dunn made a rare appearance for the Lantoom Park side that were missing a number of regulars. Dobwalls finished the better of the two and Martin Polatch extended the lead with a well taken goal. Simon Fisher completed his hat-trick just before the end from an acute angle when he somehow lobbed the keeper with a chip off the outside of his left foot that curled into the top corner to complete the scoring.

It wasn't a pretty game but both sides gave their all. For Dobwalls, Andros Andreas received the coveted Man of the Match award for what was his best game for several weeks.

The game was sponsored by Jeffery's Estate Agents and the matchball by the Highwayman at Dobwalls.
