Pelynt certainly reached the second round the hard way, having been forced into a replay by a last minute equaliser in the first meeting. They were then forced into extra time in this replay by another late strike.

The visitors started the brighter and deservedly went ahead with a well taken goal on the break but although Pelynt weren't playing particularly well at this stage they battled hard and pulled level when Grampound failed to adequately clear a Paul Boxall corner and Phil Hearnden found the top corner with a great shot from the edge of the box.

Early in the second period Pelynt went in front when Boxall's centre found Simon Hall bursting through from midfield and he calmly prodded home. Pelynt looked a far better side but with 15 minutes left a free kick 20 yards out deceived Ian Ede in the Pelynt goal and found it's way in. The visitors finished the stronger but at 90 minutes the score, as in the first match was 2-2.

However within two minutes of the restart Pelynt were back in front, Hearnden and Eddie Johns combined to set up Trevor Wisker who steered his shot into the bottom corner and midway through the first period of extra time a terrible back pass presented Wisker with another opportunity and he duly rounded the keeper and fired home Pelynt's fourth and provided some much needed breathing space.

Grampound tired to claw they way back but Pelynt's impressive defence was not breached again. Clive Wakeham had another solid game alongside Malcolm Libby, James Smith and Andy Giles who all proved reliable, but there was still time for a scare when Ede picked up a back pass from substitute Murray Hansford but the 'keeper redeemed himself by saving well from the free kick.

Pelynt now travel to St Teath in the second round.
