Pelynt gave a lesson in taking their chances and this, coupled with an excellent defensive display, earned them a valuable three points.

Injuries and absence has stretched Pelynt's squad to the limit over recent weeks so much so that their joint player-managers, Harvey Williams and Norman Thomas started a game together for the first time this season and it was Williams, in goal for Pelynt who was to have a busy first period. Roche's young side had the visitors pinned in their own half for much of the time but Pelynt stubbornly held firm. There were several impressive displays with Matt Johns, Andy Giles and James Smith proving impenetrable but the whole team had to dig in. Ollie Whitling did an excellent man-marking job in the second half, whilst Ian Dixon, Murray Hansford, Simon Hall and Phil Hearnden al harried, blocked and generally frustrated a lively Roche attack.

Despite all their pressure, Williams was only called upon a couple of times but Pelynt failed to register a single shot worthy of the name, at the other end.

The second half started with Pelynt faster out of the blocks and for the first time looking dangerous on the break. Thomas and Hansford combined to find Eddie Johns 25 yards out, in space and he sent a delightful lob over the 'keeper's head, to open the scoring, with his first real opportunity after 55 minutes.

Pelynt continued to press, forced a corner, which was swung over by Hearnden. It was missed by everyone except Johns who smashed in his second, at the far post. An hour gone and it was a completely different game. Roche composed themselves and then the game was restored to the familiar pattern of the first period. Williams pulled off two blinding saves which seemed certain goals to maintain Pelynt's advantage. It was an advantage they held until deep into stoppage time when Williams was finally beaten but it was too late to prevent completing the double.
