This was probably Pelynt's worst display of the season yet they still managed to grind out a result and earn three valuable points.

Against the run of play Pelynt took the lead from the penalty spot when Robbie Petrie's mazy run was curtailed in the box. Trevor Wisker stepped up to take the kick but with the ball in a divet, he was fortunate to see the ball loop gently in whilst the 'keeper sportingly dived out of the way.

Saints deservedly equalised with a swift attack although Pelynt's lack of tackling incurred the wrath of player-manager Harvey Williams. Saints continued to create chances but it was Pelynt who went in at the break ahead. Paul Boxall set up Petrie on the edge of the box and his shot through a crowd of players left the unsighted 'keeper completely wrong-footed as the ball found the bottom corner.

St Minver must have been cursing their luck but within two minutes of the restart they had a large slice themselves when a cross looped over Ian Ede and went in off the post.

Pelynt did improve as the second half wore on and with 20 minutes left they scored what proved to be the winner. A mistake from the visitors keeper gifted Pelynt a corner, it was swung in by Petrie and veteran Malcolm Libby neatly volleyed home from close range.

Pelynt had to withstand considerable pressure towards the end and were grateful to Ian Ede in goal who produced a couple of superb saves to preserve the lead but credit must also go to the home defence of Andy Giles, Clive Wakeham, James Smith and Libby for helping Pelynt secure this victory against the odds.
