How apt that the week of St. Valentines day, should finish with a game which will be remembered for a flurry of cards, delivered freely by what many Pensilva officials may consider as over sensitive refereeing.
The visiting side were rocked by a staggering last 30 mins which saw two players dismissed, player coach Mark Green booked on the line side, and a devastating hat-trick by St. Teath striker Mark Illson. This ending perhaps their main hope of bringing silverware to their club in an impressive first season together.
Marco Tuck picked up an instant red on 55 mins, after getting too close to an opponent, with a rash tackle from behind. A decision which also resulted in Green's yellow card, for disputing what was felt to be harsh from both teams.
At this point Pensive sitting currently in third spot in the eastern section of the fourth division were trailing by a solitary first half strike. The second half for them had started the more positively. In one particular attack they saw the ball cleared off the line four times, twice by the luckless Tuck, before eventually being cleared out of the area. A sign perhaps in the hindsight to suggest it wasn't going to be their day.
This was undeniably turning from a bad to a disastrous day, ten men and up against the leaders of the fourth division western section, Pensilva tried desperately to salvage something, and whilst doing so left themselves open to Illson who put them out of their misery with his treble.
It was fair to say that the visitors frustrations got the better of them, and this was typified by the late dismissal of Colin Treeby for two bookable offences, the latter for dissent. There were further worrying signs with a hectic league program ahead, as full-back Danny Hoskin limped off injured with just eight minutes remaining. Next game Pensilva travel to Altarnun in the league, all players confirm availability with John Miller.
