Callington took control of this keenly fought local derby early on when new signing Hooper hit a low drive into the net following a corner. They were two up in 10 minutes when from another corner Wooley forced the ball over the line. St Dominic's forward line were well held by Wooley and James Shorten, filling a new role as central defender. Callington's dominance was such that Stewart in goal wasn't tested at all in the first half.
Into the second period with the wind at their backs Callington had more control. Andrew Shorten made a useful start to senior football with some good runs and timely passes. More goals followed from Hooper and Reid, the latter following in with a header after the ball had hit the bar. Richard Collins hit the fifth when following yet another corner, taken by himself, the ball rebounded to him and he hit it first time back into the net, a quality goal.
Callington's young side used the conditions better than the aging St Dominic side and ran out worthy winners in a sporting contest.
