Polperro played down Pensilva's notorious slope in the first half of this division four match and enjoyed the lion's share of the early play but failed to take full advantage of their chances.
With 35 minutes gone a penalty decision went against the visitors but the resulting kick came back off the post and justice seemed to have been done. Unfortunately some of the eager Polperro defenders had encroached into the box so the referee ordered the kick to be retaken and Pensilva duly went a goal up.
Within minutes the tables turned on Pensilva when a handling incident in their box set Matt King up for a calmly taken equaliser. Rob Bilsborough nudged Polperro ahead shortly before the break with a fierce drive from an acute angle.
Polperro's lead was short lived as Jamie Rich flicked the ball past his own 'keeper three minutes into the second half. With the game evenly balanced and both sides tiring in the heavy conditions King popped up to tip the scaled Polperro's way with 20 minutes remaining.
Once again fortunes swung with a second own goal, Anthony Wilbourne lurching at a cross and neatly deflecting the ball beyond Paul Hudson in the Polperro goal to make it three all. A point apiece would have been a fair outcome to this tough encounter but Polperro faded badly in the last 10 minutes and Pensilva struck twice to emerge victorious.
