This division four cup encounter bizarrely provided a feast of goals in just 90 minutes and if Polperro's finishing had been up to scratch another half dozen could have been notched up.
Matt King opened Polperro's account after five minutes with Lewdown replying almost immediately. King went on to hit the woodwork twice in the first half but his striking partners were stood back watching and not on hand to tap home the rebounds. A number of one-to-ones with the Lewdown keeper also went begging and defensive errors let Lewdown go into the break 3 -1 up against the run of play.
Polperro slipped further behind a few minutes into the second period but were then brought back into the game by a classic Del Palfrey drive from just outside the box which screamed into the top corner of the net. With 20 minutes remaining Kevin Faulkner, who himself created and narrowly missed two good chances, laid on a perfect through ball for King to bring the score to 4 - 3 and then the flood gates opened. Mark Pengelly hit the target from 25 yards to level matters only to see Lewdown reply immediately. Jordan Whaley tapped in from close range and Pengelly hit another cracker from the edge of the penalty area to put Polperro 6 - 5 ahead with just five minutes left on the clock.
To everyone's amazement Lewdown equalised and with extra time looming snatched another — and another to win the tie 8-6 and leave Polperro bemused and dejected.
