A minute's silence preceeded this division one match as a mark of respect for missing Polperro fisherman Daniel Kebble who was known by many of the Polperro players and whose father, Terry, is a former committee member.
A galeforce wind put pay to any hopes of a good game of football with both sides struggling to get control of the ball. Polperro had the wind at their backs in the first half but St Mawgan had the better of the initial play creating a number of good chances and twice having goals disallowed by off-side decisions.
With half an hour gone Aaron Spry latched on to a good cross ball to net confidently and Polperro then kept the upper hand until the break. Both sides squandered goal oppurtunities in the second period and Polperro once again had to dig in and defend for the final ten minutes to hold onto three more valuable points.
Stuart Fisher made a welcome return to Killigarth, his skill and experience being evident from the kick-off and his influence in defence was a major factor in the result.
