The severe slope and accompanying wind at Callington's Duchy College pitch combined to focus play on one wing but both teams endeavoured to play good attacking football nevertheless.
Polperro looked particularly useful in the first half with Del Palfrey and Martin Hamlet outstanding. Matt King laid on Polperro's first goal, driving in a wicked cross which was brilliantly headed home by Jordan Whaley. Rob Bilsborough punished some slack defending to put the visitors two up at the break.
The game degenerated after the interval with both teams getting frustrated by the man in black's style of control and Polperro in particular letting it affect their game. Keiran Ruck, aided by a low sun at his back, pulled a goal back direct from a free kick some 40 yards out.
With their spirits lifted, Callington looked the better side for 20 minutes and Darren Wooley snatched an equaliser. This in turn pepped-up Polperro who came back well in the closing stages but couldn't turn pressure into goals and had to accept that two points had been lost not one gained.
