Benefiting from a tough pre-season, Liskeard started brightly in the first game of the season.

Some lovely interplay and crisp passing led to several half chances in the opening period of the game.

But the Blues failed to capitalise on their good start as they struggled to cope with Wadebridge's direct play and extremely quick centre forward.

This led to the first goal of the game after the Liskeard defence failed to clear, allowing the striker to drive the ball under the despairing dive of Alex Maclean.

Disaster struck midway through the half when the Bridgers were awarded a penalty, which was converted to leave Liskeard two down at the break.

Early in the second half Liskeard continued to dominate territory and possession but were unable to penetrate a resolute defence.

Some indiscipline by the Blues seemed to raise their determination levels with Matt Pascoe introduced form the bench to score with a 20-yard free kick.

With ten minutes to go Liskeard raised their game and created more chances than they had in the rest of the match. With five minutes left a tiring Wadebridge gave away several free kicks, one of which fell to Zak Mollard, who neatly turned two Wadebridge defenders before seeing his rasping left-footed drive fly into the net to earn Liskeard a hard fought draw.

Blake Penhaligan, Ryan Harris and Jo Raggett were particularly prominent for Liskeard.
