First round Clevedon Utd 2 St Blazey 4 (after extra time)
St Blazey came back from the dead at the Hand Stadium, scoring twice in the final 10 minutes to force this tie into extra time. Blazey were just not at the races for the first hour as their opponents from the Toolstation Western League First Division ran the show. Graham Cheeseman took a high ball on his chest to turn and slam it home on 35 minutes with Damian Thorne adding a second two minutes after the break. The gravity of their plight finally got through to the Blazey players and for the last half-hour they were more like the side that is expected to win cup ties like this one. Mark Vercesi shot home for four yards to give them a lifeline before Paul Madden volleyed home in the second minute of stoppage time to force the extra period. Blazey completely dominated the extra half hour with Adrian Street giving them the lead from close range before Clevedon player-manager Andy Llewellyn was sent off for a second bookable offence. The result was assured when Glynn Hooper fired the ball into the area where a home defender obligingly steered it past his own goalkeeper.
