THERE has been a £5 million planning application put forward to turn a potato processing plant into a film and TV studio at Horningtops, near Liskeard. The scheme involves converting a 28,000 square foot potato processing plant into a large studio.
The application was due before the committee last night. Senior planning officer, Roger Clotworthy said it was being recommended for approval although they were still awaiting the results of the consultation with Menheniot Parish Council and the county planning officer.
Stoke Climsland business woman, Sue Wolstenholme, 47, came up with the idea. She runs Ashley Public Relations and Events and has set up Atlantic Film and TV Studios which will lease or buy the building and land if planning permission is approved for the development.
Mr Clotworthy said: 'It is our understanding that the applicant intends to apply for a second studio to be added later but it is not part of the current application.'
Mr Clotworthy explained: 'Members of the public have until July 27 to raise any issues about the application.'
